A little bit of this; A little bit of that

Well, the past few days have been a... "Why do i have a Master’s?" kind of period. BUT... Picaso had many periods and I’ve been there before (clearly). It’s all gonna be just fine, post-grads!

So here are some humorous job tidbits from the past month (and by the way, all these locations/companies will remain unnamed!):

-Temp interview with a dental office: Whereby I had poppy-seeds in my TEETH. Oh, the cruel irony. Of course, I discovered this AFTER the interview was over and it turns out having food in your teeth doesn’t really make you a good catch for “the face” of a dental office. Blimey! I haven’t eaten a poppy-seed in close to 5 years, and I like to think I rarely have food in my teeth. What the what!?! Someone’s having fun upstairs.

-Catering a batmitzvah: Everyone hail the 13 year old adult! They are a rare breed. Now, I’m not going to say which leafy green, but someone I worked with was named after a particularly high-protein shrub, which was a pleasant surprise and really set the day off to an amusing start. Some highlights included: nibbling on cupcakes (post-party of course), and a lady that kept stuffing forks down her pockets. Her memory still intrigues me....along with another older woman who kept sampling every cup of juice and then putting it down. My anthropology degree is really coming in handy as I observe odd humans in their natural habitats.

-The end of the beginning: I started a job that I ended after only a work for a LOT of reasons that I really can’t talk about, but you know it’s not going to go well when your new co-worker asks you “how are you with being bored?”.

-Hot-dog-a-palooza 2012: In which I served hot dogs to people with extremely sizable bank accounts (yet they’re still eating hot dogs as a main course!?) for close to 8 hours. This was a lot busier than it sounds; (turns out hot dogs are kind of a big deal). I spilled instant flammable goo all over my pants and some older gentlemen kept contemplating me on my nice buns. Chivalry lives!

As I have been perusing the inter-webs, some great job ads have come up. So far, my favorite is: Early AM Kitty Care Taker @ Kitty Charm School Cat Hotel. Wow. A charm school AND a hotel for cats? This place sounds magical and I hope this means The Aristocats are a real thing.

The Aristocats!
Finally, some friends know that I had a pretty unsuccessful date that was filled with uncomfortable conversation topics, which included him asking how much debt I am in about 7 to 10 minutes into the date. This was after I said I went to grad school, in a completely neutral non-bitter tone even! Not cool. NOT cool.

Halloween is approaching, which means it is the spookiest time of the year: the first federal loan payment is due in a matter of weeks and the emails have commenced yet again!  I’m thinking of dressing up as a Seal of Approval: a grey sea creature covered in post-it compliments. It’s a picker-upper.

Hang in there, friends!
